Carol E. Richards

Carol E. Richards is a fine art photographer renowned for her ability to capture the fleeting beauty of the natural world. With a career spanning decades, her work focuses on themes of impermanence, solitude, and the passage of time. Using a viewing scope as her lens, Richards creates intimate portraits of birds juxtaposed with the poignant spaces they leave behind, evoking a sense of absence and reflection.

Richards spent 30 years in Los Angeles, where she honed her skills in commercial photography, television production, and art consulting, all while pursuing her fine art practice. Her photographs have been exhibited in numerous private and corporate collections, including The Viceroy Hotels, The Delfina Hotel, and the Sheraton Gateway Hotel. Her first book, Birds Have Wings, was published in 2013 as part of Nazraeli Press’s One Picture Book series.

Now dividing her time between Los Angeles, Taos, and the Oregon coast, Richards finds inspiration in diverse landscapes, blending technical simplicity with emotional depth in her work. When not behind the camera, she can often be found in her garden, nurturing another form of fleeting beauty. (Website, Instagram)
