Anna Arendt is a photographer based in Berlin. She grew up in Leipzig, in the German Democratic Republic. She graduated in Fine Arts and Set Design from the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee. With a one-year DAAD grant, she then studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York. For 15 years she worked as a set and costume designer for opera, drama and puppet theater in Germany and Switzerland.
Her first photobook is Vanishing (Charcoal Press, 2025, 144 pages). The black-and-white photographs were made over 15 years, mostly in Germany and Poland. The book began with a family photo she found as a child.
