Ben Marcin

Ben Marcin is a photographer based in Baltimore, Maryland. Many of his photo essays explore the idea of home and the passing of time. Last House Standing and The Camps were featured by The Washington Post, The Paris Review and Wired, and he has also photographed towers, stairwells, streets and museums in the city.

His first photobook, The Holdouts (GOST Books, 2026), brings together three series made in and around Baltimore: Last House Standing, A House Apart and The Camps. It shows solo row houses that survived demolition, abandoned farmhouses on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and temporary homeless camps, some of the houses about 250 years old. He photographs only the outside of each place, leaving interiors and people out of the frame so viewers can imagine the rest.

His work has been shown at the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Delaware Art Museum and the Houston Center for Photography, and it is held in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, the New Britain Museum of American Art and the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi. He is represented by C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore.
