Eva Verbeeck is a Belgian photographer and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. Her work explores identity, belonging, gender, and the nuances of everyday life. Working mainly with large format analogue cameras, she builds her projects slowly, through trust and long-term collaboration with the people she photographs. Her work has appeared in National Geographic, The Washington Post, Bloomberg Businessweek, Vogue, and Le Monde, and has been exhibited internationally.
She grew up in Tessenderlo, a small farming town in Belgium. Her book America’s Girls, On the Edge of a Dream (GOST Books, 2026) comes from a six-year project across 28 US states. She photographed more than 400 girls between the ages of 8 and 18, and each of them chose how she wanted to appear, often with a piece of clothing, a pet, or an object that mattered to her.
