Ghaleb Cabbabé

Ghaleb Cabbabé is a documentary photographer based in Geneva. He was born in Beirut in 1978. His parents moved to Paris in 1982. His aunt, a photographer, gave him his first camera. He trained as an architect. He later carried out several missions for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan, South Sudan, Congo and Sri Lanka. In 2012 he studied photography at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He won the Byblos Bank Award for Photography in 2013.

His book How Can It Still Be Home? was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2025. It is a hardcover with 120 pages and 82 color photographs. He shot it entirely on film over more than five years. He began by documenting his visits to Lebanon. Then the country fell into a financial collapse, and the Beirut port explosion followed. He began to ask how it could still be home. The book was shortlisted for the PHotoESPAÑA 2026 Best Photography Book of the Year award.
