Ken Grant is a British photographer. He was born in Liverpool in 1967. Since the 1980s he has photographed working-class life in Liverpool. He has also worked on long-term projects in the UK and wider Europe.
His books include The Close Season (Dewi Lewis Publishing, 2002), A Topical Times for These Times (RRB Photobooks, 2016), Benny Profane (RRB Photobooks, 2019) and Cwm: The Fair Country (RRB Photobooks, 2025).
In 1997 he took a half-time teaching post in Newport, South Wales. He drove there each week from his home in Liverpool. The valleys were new to him. In the early 2000s he moved to South Wales and later led the Documentary Photography programme there.
For nearly thirty years he photographed the South Wales Valleys. The result is Cwm: The Fair Country. The book looks at land, buildings and wild ponies in a region shaped by industry.
His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Folkwang Museum in Essen.
