Marnie Salsky is a Toronto-based photographer and documentary media artist whose work explores contemporary Jewish identity, collective memory, and belonging. Using a conceptual documentary approach, she combines photography, archival materials, interviews, and digital fragments to create layered narratives across print, installation, and film. She holds an MFA in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University. Alongside her artistic practice, she has worked with charitable and not-for-profit organizations on community-focused visual storytelling and has led photography workshops and educational programs.
Her first monograph, A Peoplehood | Amiut Yehudit (Daylight Books, 2026), grew out of a project she developed mainly between 2018 and 2022. It brings together her own photographs, archival images, interviews, newspaper articles, and social media fragments to look at Jewish identity and the ways antisemitism shapes everyday life, with an afterword by Kendell Pinkney. The project was shown as a solo exhibition at the Ryerson Artspace Gallery in 2021, and a film version was an official selection of the Toronto Jewish Film Festival in 2023.
