Nathalie Rubens

Nathalie Rubens is a fine-art photographer based in New York City and Dutchess County. She is most interested in youth and aging. She uses her camera to explore memory and the passage of time from a feminine perspective.

She holds a BA in History from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MA in Foreign Policy and Economics from Johns Hopkins University. She has worked as a journalist, in international development and as a financial analyst.

Her father introduced her to photography. She later took classes at the International Center for Photography in New York, through La Luz Workshops and through PhotoPhlo. She has studied with Elinor Carucci, Jason Langer and Rania Matar. She is a member of Soho Photo Gallery.

Seasons of Time is her first photobook. It was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2026 and has 112 pages, with texts by Elinor Carucci and Nathalie Rubens. The book combines self-portraits from midlife with photographs of her daughter Ruby as she moves through her teenage years. A Seasons of Time exhibition was shown at Soho Photo Gallery in fall 2025.
