Wei Jian Chan was born in 1991 in Singapore. He is based in London. He first picked up a camera at 14, while growing up in Singapore. Later he moved to Oxford for university and to London for work.
He works mainly in black and white. He uses both traditional wet darkroom processes and digital techniques. His work often includes geometry, architecture and motion.
His debut photobook Journey to the West was published by Setanta Books in 2025. It has 60 pages. It collects four years of street photographs made across the United Kingdom between 2019 and 2022. It reflects his experience of migration from Singapore to the UK.
