Colin McPherson
Colin McPherson is a documentary and editorial photographer and filmmaker based in Liverpool, England. He has worked for more than 3 decades, photographing news and features in the UK and abroad for publications including the Independent (for over 20 years), The Guardian, The Times, and the Financial Times, and he also works as an editorial photographer for Getty Images.
Alongside assignment work, McPherson is known for long-term projects about life in Scotland, with Catching the Tide a cornerstone series documenting the decline of Scotland’s traditional salmon net fishing industry. His work has been shown in more than 30 exhibitions, and is held in collections including the Scottish Photography Archive and the University of St Andrews Special Collections.
He is a founding member of the Document Scotland photography collective and also co-founded the Merseyside-based SixBySix collective.
