Damien Daufresne

Damien Daufresne is a photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist born in Paris in 1979. He studied drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and video in both Paris and New York, developing a practice that moves fluidly between photography, film, and visual storytelling. His work often explores memory, childhood, fragility, dreams, and the emotional relationship between people and the world around them.

Working primarily with analog photography, Daufresne embraces accidents, grain, blur, and material imperfections as part of the image itself. His projects frequently balance documentary reality with fiction, creating photographs that feel intimate, ambiguous, and emotionally open. Alongside photography, he also works with drawing, collage, and moving image, often combining these elements into poetic visual narratives.

His books include Undertow, Mon Corps Sans Moi, Trois Mers Et Quatre Terres, and The Overmorrow. Damien Daufresne currently lives and works in Berlin. (Website, Instagram, Vimeo)
