High-speed sync

A flash mode that allows flash at shutter speeds faster than the normal sync speed. Instead of one short burst, the flash fires many fast pulses while the shutter slit moves across the sensor.

High-speed sync is useful for portraits in bright sun with a wide aperture. The cost is less flash power and shorter range. It is often shortened to HSS.
