Five Continents Editions

Five Continents Editions is an independent art-book publishing house founded in Milan in February 2002 by Eric Ghysels, a Belgian-Armenian publisher who became closely associated with Italy. The publisher is especially known for books on the traditional arts of Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, while its wider catalogue also includes archaeology, ancient art, modern and contemporary art, decorative arts, fashion, design, and photography.

With a strong focus on visual culture across different regions and traditions, Five Continents Editions has built a catalogue that treats art publishing as both scholarship and visual storytelling. Its books often bring together careful research, high-quality reproductions, and subjects that connect cultural history with the material beauty of objects, images, and artistic practice. The publisher’s photography titles sit within this broader commitment to art in its many forms. (Website, Instagram)
