About gestalten

gestalten is a Berlin-based publishing house founded in 1995, originally rooted in graphic design and an obsession with the aesthetics of visual culture. Over time, it expanded into a wide-ranging illustrated-book program that documents and anticipates trends across architecture, visual culture, design and fashion, travel, food and beverages, escapism, and contemporary art, always with a strong emphasis on art direction and high production values. 

For photography, the key point is its connection to teNeues. In October 2024, MAIRDUMONT’s subsidiary Die Gestalten Verlag signed an agreement to acquire the assets of teNeues and continue its German and English illustrated-book program. Today, gestalten brings together 3 imprints under one roof: gestalten, teNeues (as a dedicated imprint for premium photography and illustrated books), and Little Gestalten.
