Kristina Rozhkova

Kristina Rozhkova (b. 1996, Perm, Russia) is an artist working primarily with photography. She studied philosophy at Perm State University and graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Art and Documentary Photography Fotografika in 2022. In 2021, her project Dacha won the POY Asia Award in the Cultural Practices category, and she was selected as one of British Journal of Photography’s Ones to Watch. Her work has appeared in publications including i-D, Vice, PhotoVogue, Calvert Journal and Fisheye Magazine. Her book The Bliss of Girlhood was published by ZONE and exhibited in Bristol, Milan, and Tokyo.

Her book Gut Feeling (Void, 2026) grew out of her arrest in Russia in June 2024, after a denunciation linked to a photoshoot, followed by two months in pre-trial detention and four months of house arrest. Rather than photographing the prison itself, she looks for other forms of captivity and control, from industrial farms, hunting, and dog shows to laboratories and memories of her childhood.
