Vladimir Karamazov

Vladimir Karamazov is a Bulgarian photographer and actor born in Sofia in 1979. After graduating in classical dramatic theatre from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, he spent more than two decades performing in theatre, cinema, and television, including as a member of the Bulgarian National Theatre. In 2019, photography became his main creative practice.

His work is shaped by his background in drama and his interest in people with complex, often overlooked stories. He uses photography to study character, atmosphere, and the contradictions of human behaviour. For the Grace of God is his first photobook and follows a year spent photographing inside Belene Prison.
