A depth program is an automatic exposure mode designed to give the greatest depth of field needed for a scene. The best-known version is the A-DEP mode found on some Canon EOS cameras.
The camera uses its autofocus points to measure the distances of the nearest and farthest subjects. It then chooses an aperture and focus point so that both appear sharp. It also tries to keep a shutter speed fast enough for handheld shooting. The mode is rare on modern cameras.
