Also called a plenoptic camera. It has an array of tiny lenses, called microlenses, in front of the sensor. These record not only the brightness of light but also the direction it comes from. Because of this extra information, you can change the focus point and the depth of field after you take the picture. The first consumer light-field camera was made by the American company Lytro. It was announced in 2011 and went on sale in 2012. Lytro closed in 2018.
