Sequencing

Choosing the order of photographs in a photobook, exhibition or photo essay. The sequence decides how the pictures speak to each other and what story or feeling they create together.

Good sequencing uses rhythm, contrast, repetition and pauses. The same photographs in a different order can tell a very different story. See also narrative.
