Oviul Maruf

Oviul Maruf is a Bangladeshi photographer. He was born in 2007 in Habiganj and lives in Sylhet, a region known for its hills and green landscapes. He picked up photography in 2022 and works mostly with nature, often on the rooftop of his family home, where his mother grows flowers. He shoots in soft morning and evening light, edits in Snapseed and keeps only the one frame that feels right. His series Botanical Silence has been featured in The Eye of Photography, Spectaculum, Collateral, Earth.Org and Byron Magazine, and WallMag published a profile of him. In 2026 he won the Environmental Photography Exhibition at the Sylhet Environment Summit.

In Botanical Silence, he photographs single flowers from his mother’s rooftop garden in Sylhet. Most pictures show small areas of light on the flower against deep black backgrounds, in warm gold or green colours, and a few are in black and white.
