Gelatin silver print

The standard black and white photographic print of the 20th century. The paper is coated with a gelatin emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halides.

Gelatin silver papers became common in the 1890s and replaced albumen prints. They are still made today. Most classic black and white darkroom prints in museums are gelatin silver prints. See also gelatin emulsion.
