Night photography

Photography made outdoors after dark, using available light such as street lamps, the moon, stars or lit windows. It usually needs long exposures, a tripod, a fast lens or high ISO.

Hungarian-French photographer Brassaï published his famous book Paris de nuit (Paris by Night) in the early 1930s. Today night photography includes city scenes, light trails and astrophotography.
