Symmetry

A balanced arrangement in which one half of the picture mirrors the other. Symmetry can be left and right, top and bottom (for example a reflection in water) or around a center point.

Symmetrical photographs often feel calm, formal and stable. Architecture, interiors and reflections are common subjects. A small break in a symmetrical scene, such as one person walking through it, can draw strong attention.
