Eri Morita

Eri Morita is a Japanese photographer born in Kumamoto and raised in Tokyo, whose work focuses on family, memory, and the shifting emotional distance between people. She studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York, where she developed an approach that blends observation with a quiet, reflective distance.

Her long-term projects often grow over many years, with her early series Home Drama gaining international recognition and shaping her interest in how families form and evolve over time. Morita’s work has been exhibited across the United States, Europe, and Japan, and is held in major collections including the Milwaukee Museum of Art and the Kiyosato Photo Art Museum.

Across her practice, she returns to the same question: how to photograph the people closest to her with both intimacy and distance, and how to transform private moments into images that can speak beyond her own life. (Website)
