Eric Lusito

Eric Lusito is a French documentary-style photographer working on long-term personal projects. Self-taught, he was influenced early by Bernd and Hilla Becher and Otto Dix, and became interested in the former Soviet bloc after watching the fall of the Berlin Wall on television as a child.

In the early 2000s, Lusito began travelling through former communist countries, searching for once-hidden military sites that later became the basis for his book After the Wall: Traces of the Soviet Empire, published by Dewi Lewis in 2009. His photographs have been exhibited internationally and are held in public collections including FRAC Bretagne, Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts, MuCEM, and Nuit de la Photo.

His latest book, Soviet Scientific Institutes, published by FUEL in 2026, grew from a visit to a laboratory in Kharkiv at the end of 2021. The project expanded across several former Soviet countries and explores the scientific facilities, machines, and people that remain connected to this history. (Website, Instagram, Facebook)
