Bill Brandt (1904–1983) was a German-born British photographer. He pictured English life in the 1930s, London at night and in the Blitz, and later made famous wide-angle nudes.

Margaret Bourke-White (1904–1971) was an American photojournalist who shot the first LIFE cover. She photographed steel mills, the Great Depression, World War II, Gandhi and South Africa, and opened many doors for women in photography.
