Susanne Willuhn

Susanne Willuhn is a photographer based in Cologne, Germany, working primarily with analogue film. Her practice is guided by intuition, attention, and an interest in moments that appear briefly before they are fully understood. She often works with medium-format cameras and embraces imperfection, chance, and delay as part of the photographic process.

Her work focuses on perception rather than documentation, using everyday scenes, objects, and landscapes as starting points for quieter, more open images. Willuhn is particularly interested in how meaning forms before conscious thought takes over. Her self-published book Das Jahr der Eidechse (The Year of the Lizard) reflects this approach through a carefully sequenced selection of photographs and a handmade production limited to 63 copies.
