Ying Ang
Ying Ang is a Melbourne‑based photographer and author whose work spans Singapore, Sydney, New York, and now Australia, placing her firmly within an international perspective. She teaches at the International Center of Photography in New York, directs Reflexions 2.0, a photography masterclass in Europe, and sits on the board of the Centre for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne. From 2019 to 2024, she co‑founded and curated Le Space Gallery, a creative hub for visual storytelling .
Ang’s first photobook, Gold Coast, earned top prizes at the New York Photo Festival and Encontros Da Imagem in 2014, and has been collected by MoMA and the State Library of Victoria. Her more recent book, The Quickening, has also received international awards and exhibition recognition, including a solo show at Rencontres d’Arles and honors from Belfast Photo Festival, the BIFA Documentary Photo Book Prize, Moscow Foto Awards, and more. Her projects have been featured in publications like FIRECRACKERS: Female Photographers Now (Thames & Hudson) and How We See: Photobooks By Women (10×10 Photobooks), and she was a commissioned artist for PHOTO2022.
