Yoichi Yoshinaga
Yoichi Yoshinaga was born in 1977 in Shibuya, Tokyo. He graduated from the Department of Photography at Osaka University of Arts. After working at an architectural model production company, he began working as a freelance aerial photographer in 2004, shooting from small aircraft and helicopters.
Aerial photography is the core of his practice, with a strong focus on railways and urban structures. In 2011, he held his first solo exhibition Sora-Tetsu, presenting aerial photographs of railways, which brought him wider attention through exhibitions and books. Alongside his aerial work, he has also photographed railways using 6x6 film and documented ruins with a 4x5 camera. Yoshinaga is active in travel, railway, and documentary photography, both on the ground and in the air. He is a member of the Japan Photographers Society and the Japan Railway Photographers Society.
