Ave Pildas

Ave Pildas is an American photographer and educator born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his career photographing jazz musicians for DownBeat Magazine in the 1960s before moving to Los Angeles, where he became Art Director at Capitol Records in 1971 and designed and photographed album covers for the label’s artists. He later worked as a freelance photographer and designer, with photography ranging from architecture and corporate assignments to street life and portraits. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Pildas is Professor Emeritus at Otis College of Design and continues to work on new photographic projects from Santa Monica, California. (Website, Instagram)
