Benita Suchodrev

Benita Suchodrev is a Georgian-born photographer based in Berlin. Raised in the United States, she studied Liberal Arts with a focus on Art History at SUNY Purchase in New York before completing a Master of Arts in English Literature with high honors. After moving to Berlin in 2008, she began documenting the city’s diverse cultural and artistic life while developing a wider body of portrait and documentary work.

Her books include 48 Hours Blackpool, Of Lions and Lambs, and Find Me Paradise, all published by Kehrer Verlag. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public and private collections, including the Michael Horbach Foundation in Cologne, the Willy Brandt House in Berlin, and the Rafael Tous Foundation for Contemporary Art in Barcelona. She is a member of the photographers’ agency FOCUS.

Working intuitively, Suchodrev is drawn to human expression, vulnerability, ambiguity, and the brief transitional moments between what has passed and what is about to happen. Her photographs often move between the poetic and the bizarre, combining spontaneity with a strong interest in authenticity rather than strict documentation. (Website, Instagram, Facebook)
