Eiji Ohashi

Eiji Ohashi is a Japanese photographer whose work explores themes of isolation, endurance, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. After graduating from Kyoto University of the Arts, he spent many years traveling through remote regions of Asia, including Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan, and western China, photographing vast landscapes and the people who inhabit them. This early experience shaped his sensitivity to light, weather, and solitude, elements that continue to define his work today.

Ohashi’s photographs often transform familiar scenes into meditative studies of time and existence. Whether documenting mountain villages, city streets, or man-made objects, he captures the intersection between humanity and environment with calm precision. His visual language is deeply rooted in patience and observation, emphasizing the beauty of what endures quietly in plain sight.

Over the past two decades, Ohashi has exhibited widely in Japan and abroad, including shows in Tokyo, Paris, and Rotterdam. His work has been featured in publications such as Roadside Lights and Existence of, and in 2018 he received the Higashikawa Award for photography. (Website, Instagram)
