James and Karla Murray
James and Karla Murray are husband-and-wife architectural and interior photographers and multimedia artists based in New York City. For more than 30 years, they have documented the city’s storefronts, independent businesses, and neighbourhood life, focusing especially on places threatened by gentrification and rising rents. Their books include Store Front, New York Nights, Store Front NYC, Great Bars of New York City, and Vinyl NYC. Their work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections including the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage and the New York Public Library.
