Mar Sáez

Mar Sáez is a multidisciplinary artist from Murcia, Spain, born in 1983. She holds degrees in Psychology and Audiovisual Communication from the University of Valencia. Specializing in contemporary photography, theory, and artistic projects, Sáez explores the complexities of identity and biopolitics, aiming to portray the realities that concern her from within while analyzing the boundaries of the documentary genre.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Spanish Academy in Rome, The Gabarron Foundation in New York, Retine Argentique Gallery in Marseille, and F22 Foto Space in Hong Kong. Nationally, her work has been showcased in venues such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Canal de Isabel II, Biblioteca Nacional, and Museo América in Madrid. 

Sáez has been recognized with several awards and residencies, notably the Academy of Spain in Rome Residency grant in 2021. She has been a finalist in the Pilar Citoler International Contemporary Photography Prize 2022 and has received the LUX Prize from the Association of Professional Photographers of Spain (AFPE) twice.
