Pedro Jarque Krebs
Pedro Jarque Krebs was born in Lima, Peru, and studied Philosophy at the Sorbonne University in Paris. His photography career began in 1983 when he won first prize from the Municipality of Lima for black and white photography.
He has collected more than 250 international awards, including five Sony World Photography Awards between 2016 and 2022. He also won the Siena Creative Awards in Italy for four consecutive years from 2020 to 2023. In 2018, he became the overall winner of Bird Photographer of the Year in the UK. National Geographic France named him "Photographer of the Month" in October 2016.
His work has appeared in exhibitions across multiple countries, including at the Siena International Photography Awards Festival in Italy, Gallery X by Xposure in the UAE, and the Embassy of Peru in the USA. He describes his approach as seeking to "provoke reflection on our relationship with animals" rather than simply documenting them, drawing inspiration from classical portraiture and Baroque painting techniques.(Website, Instagram)
