Robert LeBlanc
Robert LeBlanc is a self-taught, Los Angeles-based artist specializing in photography and video, known for his immersive work within non-traditional communities such as hotshot firefighters, hurricane survivors, and Holiness snake handlers. His approach combines raw, candid imagery with deep engagement and transparency, building trust over years to authentically document the intricacies of daily life in rarely-seen social spaces.
Starting with a 35-mm point-and-shoot camera in 2003, LeBlanc initially aimed to capture the essence of skate culture, which evolved into a broader exploration of various communities. His journey led to the creation of "Unlawful Conduct," his debut artist book that provides a genuine snapshot of life through the lens of a skateboarder. This limited edition became a sought-after piece, featured in select bookstores and museums globally, including MoMA PS1 and the Frye Museum Store, showcasing LeBlanc's distinctive ability to translate subcultures into compelling visual narratives.
