Shingo Kanagawa

Shingo Kanagawa is a Japanese photographer born in Kyoto in 1981. He studied at Kobe University and later completed doctoral work in intermedia art at Tokyo University of the Arts.

He is known for intimate, often autobiographical work that examines family, absence, faith, and human relationships. Major projects include father, about his repeatedly disappearing father, and for a while / Nagai Aida, centered on his aunt.

His other notable work includes Heim Synergy, which looks at shared life with roommates, and Prayer/Nagasaki, which explores Catholicism and prayer in Nagasaki. He has received the Jun Miki Award and the Sagamihara Photography Newcomer Encouragement Award. (Website)
