Virginia McGee Richards

Virginia “Ginna” McGee Richards is a photographer, researcher, and former environmental lawyer based in the American South. Born and raised in North Carolina, her work explores the connections between landscape, history, and memory. Before focusing on photography, Richards worked as an environmental lawyer at the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice. Her long-term project The Inner Passage combines archival research, fieldwork, and wet-plate collodion photography to examine the history held within waterways of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
