Excellent Photography Belongs On Paper | Frames Magazine

Excellent Photography Belongs On Paper. When I first read the motto of this Frames magazine, my first thought was. I would sign this … or do a YouTube video. With a photograph on paper, you receive one more, very special dimension. It starts speaking to you. It invites you to be a part of itself. It lets you hold it and touch it. Now, Frames magazine is a unique and different publication presenting art and especially photography that you can't experience every day. That is why I am happy I can show it to you on my channel.

I will be giving away those two copies of the magazine. All you need to do is to let me know your favorite picture from the magazine in the comments below the video. If you like these videos, please consider subscribing and sharing them with your friends. It really helps to produce more videos like this one. If you already are, thanks, it means a lot to me.

This magazine is about art. Art gives us strength, art gives us hope, art helps us forget, improves our health. Don't forget to cherish your appreciation for photography. Those are the words of the editor-in-chief and the founder of the magazine Tomasz Trzebiatowski. Tomasz is a Polish fine art photographer who lives and works in Switzerland. Aside from FRAMES, he is also the editor-in-chief of the FujiLove Magazine. But his photographic interests lie predominantly in fine art, music, and street photography. That is how the Frames magazine was born, as a celebration of photography.

So what is Frames magazine? Frames is a relatively young publication. It was founded by people who wanted to bring something new, something fresh, to the world of photography. But not just that. Frames is not your typical photography magazine. It serves more like a presentation of what people are doing with photography. Let me explain. In your typical photography magazine, you usually find photos of authors focusing on one specific genre. This magazine does not frame photography that way…

Each volume consists of three parts. Five photographers are presented in the first section. The second section is dedicated to conversations with artists. The third one, called beyond, is exactly what it sounds like. It is something beyond photography. Or rather something between photography and other visual arts.

Yes, this publication is not for the purist. There are all sorts of things going on. You can find candid street photographs, composites, as well of pictures of pictures. It is more about what people do with photography. But this approach in no way degrades the photographs. The pictures are presented very artfully, printed alone on each page in the photographers' section.

It offers a nice mix of both established and emerging photographers of different genres and mediums. It offers a unique perspective by juxtaposing the new and already established photographer.

Another thing that I like is that as a modern photography magazine in a digital world, the goal is to bring compelling photographs and the stories behind them. It is really something you will not often find in a photography monogram. It is a great element that gives the photographs another meaning. It makes you connect with the photographs. It makes you feel what the artist felt when they took the photo.

Now, as I said, the magazine is published quarterly, but that does not mean the content stops there. If you subscribe to Frames, you gain full access to the subscribers’ area and the accompanying digital content that is released between issues of the main publication. Each   year 12 Frames digital companions are published which contains 5 photography articles and about 35 pages of additional content.

This magazine might not be for everyone, but if you are someone who believes in the idea of printed photography, this might be exactly what you're looking for. You can enjoy those moments, take your time, and spend it with each individual photograph that you discover on this beautiful uncoated paper. It is a gateway not only to the world of photography but to the world of visual art. A nice mix between art itself and information you can read. After all, excellent photography belongs on paper.

Just a disclaimer I was sent two copies of the Frames magazine, and I will be giving away those two magazine issues. All you need to do is to let me know your favorite picture from the magazine in the comments below the video on YouTube. Also, Frames did not influence my opinion. The presentation of the magazine is my honest look at what this publication has to offer.
