Time-lapse is a technique where a camera takes still photographs of the same scene at regular intervals. The photos are then played in sequence as a video. Because the frames are taken far apart in time but shown quickly, slow events appear to happen much faster.
Common subjects include moving clouds, city traffic, the night sky, building construction, a flower opening or a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis. Many cameras have a built-in interval timer for this.
