Hello fellow photographers! So today I'm going to talk about how I use stock footage and music in my videos, what the advantages are and how you can do the same.

Now, just to make everything clear, Artlist and Artgrid reached out to me to make this video. Interestingly, they also reached out a year ago. However, at that time, I was actually using the epidemic sound for my music and I didn't have the confidence to recommend the Artgrid since I had only been using it for a short time back then.

So what has changed? I have been using the Artgrid for almost a year now. And I'm also using the Artlist music in my videos. If you are a video creator who needs music for your videos, or videos for your videos, keep reading. I will also talk about some free alternatives. So if you do not want to spend any money on the stock, music or videos, you can do that.

ARTLIST

Let's start with the music. Being an Epidemic sound user for quite some time, I didn't really need to search for new music. Now. That all changed when I took a little break with my channel and my subscription ran out. I tried Artlist and when I was confident it was actually something I could recommend to others. I agreed to do a video about the service.

My first problem when I decided to resume my video production was licence. And this is actually one of the biggest advantages the Artlist has over the Epidemic sound. When you download a song, you can use it forever. Even after you END the subscription. So let's say you're a video creator, and you produce gaming content, you find songs you like, maybe like 20, 200 of them, and you download them end your subscription and keep using those songs and never worry about copyright strikes again. The value you get in this particular case is incredible.

If you are like me and you constantly need different types of songs every month, you can find a great catalogue for each video consisting of moods, themes, genres or instrument. The instrument section is actually something I particularly like about the art list. If I remember this correctly, you cannot filter songs based on instruments using Epidemic sound.

But there is one thing I really miss here. And it might even be a deal breaker for you. Artlist does not offer individuals STEMs, you cannot download individual STEMs like drums, vocals, and so on. So, if you like the song, but do not like drums in it, you are out of luck. Fortunately, they offer instrumental only versions for most of the songs so I can get rid of the vocals since I rarely use them in my videos. When you decide on the songs you like you can simply check out and all the links are delivered to your email. You can also download them directly from your library.

The pricing is $16 per month (paid annually) for music and $25 for music and sound effects. If you are starting creator, would I recommend a subscription to you. No, if you are not sure whether you will actually like doing YouTube videos and don't want to invest money in your subscription, just go to YouTube and search for royalty free music. There is plenty of music you can use for free. I actually started like this when I didn't want to invest too much into this YouTube hobby. Now, do I think Artlist is a good deal? Absolutely. You can get so much music. And you can also keep it after your subscription finishes.

What I will personally get are some commissions if you use my affiliate link, but I would not recommend it to you until you are certain it has a value for you look, I could say get the year subscription and earn commissions. It's awesome. And for many people it will however, I'm not doing this YouTube thing to earn a living from permissions recommending subscription. I'm talking about this because I'm actually using the service. I think it is useful and if you think that too, and your financial situation allows you to buy the subscription and you want to use my link. I will be grateful. You'll also get two extra month using the link as well.

ARTGRID

A lot of creators are fine with just filming themselves. However, if you are a niche of YouTube where you need stock footage, you basically have two options. You can buy the videos separately and spend a lot of money or you can buy a subscription and use the unlimited amount of object footage forever. I mean, not unlimited. Not forever, but you know what I mean.

I'm only confident saying this after using it for almost a year you can check out some of my videos on my YouTube channel if you want to see how I use them. What I like about Artgrid is the variety. You can find so many beautiful videos there as well as so many slightly different angles so you find the perfect one for you. Again, you will get two extra month if you decide to use my affiliate link in the description to buy an annual subscription. If you are not confident you will find value in the annual subscription you can always give it a shot and if you don’t want find it valuable for you, you can ask for the refund within the first 14 days.

But I'm confident that if you need stock videos the Artgrid is a right choice. I would also recommend you the mid tier 4k+. The reason is that if your video ends up on YouTube anyways, I don't think you would really use the higher resolution. The only exception I can see is if you want access to the raw footage. But, because I'm lazy I don't really want to color grade each clip so I don't do that. There was a time when I didn't want to spend money but I still needed stock footage and my favourite site for the free stock videos is pexels.com let me know in the comments below if you have a favourite site for royalty free music or video. I hope it helped you to decide whether you actually need any of these services. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them below.

Until next time!
