Jeffrey Marqusee
Jeffrey Marqusee is a photographer and scientist whose work bridges the worlds of art and science. Photography has been a part of his life since the late 1960s, inspired by the works of Eugene Atget, Richard Avedon, Brassai, Walker Evans, and Dorothea Lange. Influenced by Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, and W. Eugene Smith, Marqusee found in photography a medium that combined his interests in art and science. He pursued a career in science, earning a PhD in chemistry from MIT and focusing on environmental, energy, and climate change issues. Throughout his scientific career, he continued to engage with photography, transitioning from black-and-white darkroom techniques to color slides, and eventually to digital photography. With the advent of affordable print-on-demand services, he began creating photo books that reflect his lifelong passion for photography. (Website)
