Zone focusing

Zone focusing is a technique used to maintain focus in fast-paced scenarios, such as street photography, by setting the lens to manual focus and selecting a specific distance to be in focus.

Street photographers often utilize zone focusing, where apertures of f/8 or greater are set, allowing for fast focusing in fast-paced scenarios where focusing may be difficult or impossible.

If your lens lacks a depth of field scale, you can use your camera's settings menu or a depth of field app to determine the range of a zone focus setting. These apps are often easier to use than navigating a camera menu.
