David Shortland
David Shortland, is an Irish photographer based in London, UK.
He works mainly in the genre of candid street photography, drawing influence from fine-art photography masters such as Saul Leiter, Ernst Haas and Fred Herzog. Hw often shoots with longer focal lengths and likes to incorporate elements of abstraction, texture and vibrant colour.
David picked up photography as a hobby during lockdown at the start of 2021 and it quickly became an obsession. As someone who deals with some anxiety issues, He’s found street photography to be incredibly therapeutic. Overcoming the fear of photographing people has helped to boost his confidence and removed a lot of barriers to creativity.
His first publication, 'First Year', was released in March 2022.
